Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Excuses. This site should have been up four years ago. You see, my friend Bob had this idea for a website but Bob has been very busy gardening. Really. Also he said he didn’t really know all that much about making websites and such, so he asked me if I wanted to get involved and I really couldn’t think of a good reason not to. You see what happens when you don’t have a good excuse for missing work.
Excuses for All Occasions
You can find excuses for just about anything, from excuses for missing school to funny excuses, by poking around in the menu above. We’ll be adding to this encyclopedia as we go and visitors can add to it by submitting their own. We even plan to have some contests and, if we don’t do everything we say we’re going to do, you can bet we’ll have a darned good excuse.
The Art of Making Excuses
Seriously, think about all the times you ended up doing something just because you couldn’t come up with an excuse. Or your excuse wasn’t good enough? And how about the times you got a ticket for driving a hundred miles an hour down a city street just because you couldn’t come up with a good excuse to give to the police officer? How about all the times you got in trouble with the boss because he said “That’s no excuse,” or “I’m sorry, that excuse just isn’t good enough”? How many times have you landed at the inlaws for another boring evening just for lack of a good excuse? How many times has your spouse said you had better have a darned good excuse if you don’t get something done?
Well, the truth is that certain excuses have just become over used. Every teacher has heard the old excuse about your dog eating your homework, for crying out loud! People are not falling for these tired old excuses anymore. If you really care for someone the least you can do is give them a really well crafted, thoughtfully selected excuse.
We’re here to help you out with that. Now when someone tells you you had better have a good excuse for not doing something, you’ll know just where to go. Here, in this directory of excuses, you’ll find the perfect excuse for whatever mistake you’ve made or whatever it is you want to avoid. By the way, if you happened to have landed here before we get all the pages up, be patient. We’re going as fast as we can but we’ve been pretty busy with other stuff. Really.
